On Thursday morning Mary Kay Inc. opened the doors to its new Richard R. Rogers Manufacturing and Research and Development facility in Lewisville. The beauty company invested more than $100 million on the 453,000-square-foot facility located near Walmart at 2613 Denton Tap Road, Lewisville. “The opening of the Richard R. Rogers Manufacturing Facility marks an exciting milestone in our company’s 55-year history,” Mary Kay President and CEO David Holl said. “Currently, approximately 75 percent of our business is overseas and yet more than 50 percent of Mary Kay products produced at our U.S. manufacturing facility are exported to our international markets. As an innovation leader, this new facility will allow us to continue to produce best-in-the-industry products today, while practicing sustainability for the future.” Following an exhaustive search of potential locations throughout North Texas, Mary Kay Inc. broke ground on the facility in September 2016. The new facility, which started moving in employees in September, will put all of the company's manufacturing and research and development teams under the same roof—something that has not been done in over 20 years, according to Mary Kay executives. The facility will house 700 employees at its peak. "Lewisville is known as a great place to do business and a great place for people to live, work and play," Lewisville Mayor Rudy Durham said. "Mary Kay [Inc.] has a long and distinguished history. Lewisville is proud to be a part of the company’s exciting new chapter." With the opening of the facility, the company sold its previous manufacturing facility on Regal Row in Dallas. The new facility's laboratories are 50 percent larger. To commemorate the opening of the facility, Mary Kay’s executive leadership team, elected officials and representatives from Cymcor project management and The Beck Group construction firm joined together for an official ribbon cutting. In partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, the iconic beauty company planted its one millionth tree on the grounds of the facility as part of its Pink Doing Green initiative. Mary Kay Inc. also presented a $50,000 check in partnership with Texas New Mexico Power to Denton County Friends of the Family, the sole provider in Denton County of shelter and outreach services for those affected by domestic violence and/or sexual assault. To further support Mary Kay’s commitment to the Lewisville community, the company announced a 10-year partnership with Lewisville ISD to offer a more robust entrepreneurship curriculum for Lewisville High School. Using the nationally renowned Incubatoredu curriculum, students will learn business concepts while local business leaders provide coaching and mentoring.
