The county celebrated National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day with a short ceremony May 8 at the Williamson County Courthouse at 710 S. Main St., Georgetown.
National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day, which is commemorated May 9, focuses on the resilience of young people, especially those who have mental health challenges.
Two young women from area school districts shared artwork and poetry related to mental health at the ceremony. Their work and other projects was on display in the courthouse on May 8.
Regina Cavanaugh, a child and adolescent psychiatrist with Lone Star Circle of Care, was the keynote speaker. She talked about what parents and adults can do to become role models to children.
