Montgomery County officials gathered June 1 for a ribbon-cutting to celebrate Precinct 4's new emergency response warehouse in New Caney.

Precinct 4 Commissioner Matt Gray said the warehouse will provide closer access to emergency supplies than the previous warehouse, which was located in Conroe.
“It's the first day of hurricane season,” Gray said. “The difference now is we don't have to run all the way across the county to get supplies. We've got supplies right here.”
Officials said the new 10,000-square-foot warehouse, located at the East Montgomery County Industrial Park, will house emergency supplies such as water, ready-to-eat meals, cots and other items considered an immediate need in the event of a natural disaster, according to a June 1 news release.

Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough touted the new warehouse at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“We're figuring out how to manage our growth and ... this is just one small part of that,” Keough said. “It’s very exciting.”
Mark Linabury, Greater East Montgomery County Chamber president and CEO, echoed Keough’s sentiment.
“One of the things you've heard me talk about time and time again is that strong communities are built through proactive planning,” Linabury said. “The best communities don't wait for challenges to arrive, they begin preparing for them. ... This facility is a great example of that mindset."
