New Caney ISD's calendar for the 2026-27 school year—which features longer breaks and a later end date than the 2025-26 calendar—was unanimously approved by the district’s board of trustees during its Dec. 15 meeting.

The biggest difference between the new 2026-27 calendar and the 2025-26 calendar are that more days were added to the winter holiday vacation in late December and early January, Cesar Condarco, executive director of secondary education for NCISD, said Dec. 15. NCISD also aligned some of the longer breaks with other nearby districts to benefit employees with spouses working at other districts, he added.
Under the new calendar, Aug. 6 is the first day of school and May 27, 2027, is the last day of school, according to NCISD’s website.
