Section of East Merriweather Street closed through March 1

One block of a feeder street to the heavily trafficked intersection of South Seguin Avenue and I-35 will be closed until March 1.

East Merriweather Street’s one-block closure began Dec. 18 according to New Braunfels Utilities.

The gist

As part of Phase 2 of the utility’s I-35 Waterline Project, Merriweather Street will be closed from Groos Street to South Seguin Avenue until March 1.

The closure allows for contractor Pesado Construction to connect about 9,000 feet of water main to the Avery Park water main from the South Castell Avenue water main, according to New Braunfels Utilities.

The $8 million project is part of an expansion of infrastructure to deal with future demand, according to NBU.
