The New Braunfels Economic Development Corp., or NBEDC, will be investing $405,000 for citywide pedestrian improvement projects following City Council approval during a regular meeting June 22.
Sorting out details
The NBEDC is funding the final design of Phase 2 of the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, or AAMPO, Citywide Pedestrian Improvements Project, which looks to improve sidewalks and shared-use paths along:
- North Grape Avenue
- North Plum Avenue
- North Peach Avenue
- Avery Parkway
- Hanz Drive
The project also aims to enhance intersections, pavement markings and signage to improve connectivity and pedestrian safety, agenda documents state. AAMPO has pledged $4.2 million for 80% of construction costs associated with the project and will fund the remaining 20% in the future, according to agenda documents.
