Last year the city of New Braunfels identified multiple unpaid, reserved burial lots at the Comal Cemetery, located at 301 Peace Ave., New Braunfels. As a result the New Braunfels Parks and Recreation Department and City Secretary’s Office have scheduled a Comal Cemetery lot sale for Saturday, Sept. 8 at 9 a.m. at City Hall, 550 Landa Street, New Braunfels. Eighty-one cemetery lots will be available for purchase in the newest sections of Comal Cemetery (sections 684 and 687). The public may view the lots on a map at City Hall or by visiting the Comal Cemetery. The sale of the lots will be on a first-come, first-served basis. All sales must be made in person and paid in full by cash, check or credit card. Each household is eligible to purchase a maximum of two cemetery lots, and the price of the lots is based on residency. The resident price is $2,500 per lot. Proof of residency in the city limits is required through a current driver’s license, utility bill or property bill. The nonresident price is $3,000 per lot. The lots are used only for the burial of a human or cremated human remains. Each lot measures approximately 4 wide by 9 feet long. Each lot is permitted the following type of burials:
- a single-depth burial of human remains;
- double-depth burial of human remains;
- a single-depth burial and one cremated human remains; or
- no more than four cremated human remains.
