Volunteers needed for Geronimo and Alligator Creek watershed clean-up

On April 4 from 9 a.m.-noon, the Geronimo and Alligator Creeks Partnership will host the eighth annual Geronimo and Alligator Creeks Watershed Clean-Up event.

The cleanup is part of the Geronimo and Alligator Creeks Watershed Protection Plan, and volunteers can register online on the Geronimo Creek website.

“As a volunteer, you can help protect Geronimo and Alligator Creeks by collecting trash from several target areas that drain to the creeks,” said Mark Enders, watershed program manager for the city of New Braunfels, in a press release. "Geronimo and Alligator creeks are tributaries to the Guadalupe River."

Volunteers can select one of three cleanup locations:

• New Braunfels Regional Airport at the corner of Airport Road and Entrance Drive;
• Irma Lewis Seguin Outdoor Learning Center, 1865 Hwy. 90 E., Seguin; or
• Navarro High School parking lot, 6450 N. Hwy. 123, Seguin.

Volunteers should arrive at 9 a.m. to receive breakfast tacos, special event T-shirt, safety instructions and supplies.

“If you have your own gloves or pick-up tools, bring them and dress appropriately for the weather,” Enders said in the press release. “Trash bags and a limited supply of gloves and pick-up tools will be available.”
