Comal County sees big gains in early voting compared to 2016

Numbers from Comal County elections officials show there were 10,574 total in-person votes cast Oct. 13-14, the first two days of early voting in Texas.

By comparison, there were 8,845 in-person votes cast in Comal County on the first two days of early voting for the 2016 November general election.

While 1,729 more residents have voted in person during the first two days of early voting so far, the county has seen a slight decline in mail-in ballots as compared to 2016.

As of Oct. 14, the county has received 2,562 mail-in ballots; that represents a decrease from the 3,428 mail-in ballots in the first two days of early voting in 2016.

Comal County has also seen a 25% increase in the number of registered voters, with 92,389 in the 2016 election as compared with 115,890 active voter registrations for this November's election as of Oct. 1, according to county data.

In total, 11% of registered voters in the county have already voted.
