NBISD postpones May board election due to coronavirus

Gov. Greg Abbott issued a proclamation on March 18 that allows for the suspension of general and special elections until November's general election.

At a special board meeting on March 30, the NBISD Board of Trustees elected to do so for the planned May 2 board election.

Current board members whose seats are up for election will continue to occupy their current positions until after the Nov. 3 election.

All candidates who filed by the deadline for the May election will remain on the ballot. The postponement does not open the door for any additional candidates.

Citizens who filed either an annual or single-use application for ballot by mail (ABBM) for reasons of age or disability will be able to use their mail-in ballot for the November 3 election. Those who filed for an ABBM because they were going to be outside the county will not be able to use their ballot for the Nov. 3 election.

Comal ISD has not announced a postponement of its May bond election.
