The San Antonio International Airport, or SAT, just passed the halfway point in the construction timeline for Terminal C, a project that will add 18 domestic and international gates to the facility.
Current situation
Since its groundbreaking in December 2024, construction remains on schedule for a 2028 opening. The project is approaching a key milestone this week with the installation of the final structural beam, Senior Public Information Officer Ana Flores said.

What to expect
Spanning over 850,000 square feet, the new terminal will have an overall design tailored to showcase San Antonio’s regional culture and hospitality, Flores said. The terminal will have:
A centralized security screening checkpoint
Expanded international arrivals processing
41,000 square feet of dining and retail space
Updated airline lounges
Work is also progressing on the Terminal C parking garage and ground transportation center. The seven-story garage will introduce about 2,600 parking spaces and connect directly to the terminal with a covered, climate-controlled walkway. The new ground transportation hub will centralize ride-booking services to ease curbside traffic congestion, Flores said.
“Terminal C is the centerpiece of Elevate/SAT, our long-term vision for investing in the airport’s infrastructure and preparing for the future of San Antonio and our region,” Flores said.

What’s next
Once Terminal C and the parking facility are complete, attention will transition to renovating Terminals A and B, Flores said. These enhancements will introduce modern amenities and expanded infrastructure designed to serve increasing passenger numbers.
