Comal plat storage to be updated for $178,601

Kofile Technologies quoted Comal County $178,601 to build new storage solutions for the county’s plats and the Comal County Commissioners Court approved funding at its Feb. 20 meeting.

Plats as referenced here are hard copies of maps that are the official record of property lines in the county. Comal has 6,062 plats.

In addition to the custom cabinetry, Kofile’s proposal includes conservation treatments, deacidification of the documents and will repair them as necessary.

The new storage solution will considerably reduce the space required for the plats, according to County Clerk Bobbie Koepp.

The county also approved a $456,160 bid from Kofile in February for a separate project that will preserve and archive deeds, Commissioners Court minutes, probate records and plats. An estimated 69,316 pages will be processed as a part of that project, according to the bid from Kofile.

Comal County will pay a combined $634,761 to Kofile for both projects.
