At its Jan. 22 regular meeting the New Braunfels City Council approved the first reading of an ordinance for the proposed updated membership fees of Das Rec, the city’s new recreation center that is slated to open this summer. The council will consider a final reading of the ordinance at its Feb. 12 meeting. The rates are slightly higher than were originally proposed in the 2015 business plan, but Parks and Recreation Director Stacey Dicke said she feels the rate adjustments are reasonable and affordable. “I believe that the membership rate we’re proposing here … will get us where we need to be with our budget,” Dicke said. The following proposed fees will allow access to all of the fitness and pool areas, group exercise classes and child care. Extra fees will be charged for additional services, such as sports league involvement and personal training sessions, Dicke said. Proposed resident fees
