In May 2020, local officials and community leaders formed the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Awareness (IDEA) Forum in an effort to address diversity and inclusion concerns throughout New Braunfels.
The group has been working to examine racial, economic, social and access issues in New Braunfels, according to the city.
On June 1, the forum released an anonymous survey for residents to share their experiences and thoughts regarding access to housing and healthcare, awareness of opportunities to be involved in local government and racial disparities within the community.
“We are reaching out to the entire New Braunfels community on these topics,” New Braunfels Mayor Rusty Brockman said in a press release. “It is essential that we get feedback from the entire community on these topics as we continue to find ways to bring our residents together, no matter their differences.”
