Avelo Airlines is adding two more Florida destinations to its McKinney commercial flight plans in December.
In a nutshell
Starting Dec. 16, Avelo Airlines will offer commercial flights to the Sarasota-Bradenton area and West Palm Beach. The new destinations join Avelo Airlines’ previously announced flights to four other destinations in Florida as well as Colorado, Georgia, Louisiana, Nevada and Tennessee.
The airline will operate 11 destinations in total from McKinney by Dec. 17 once all routes are operational. The new Florida routes will fly twice a week, according to an Avelo Airlines news release.
Avelo officials also announced it is adding two more weekly flights between DTX and Las Vegas due to “strong demand,” the news release states. The airline will operate flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays in addition to the previously announced service schedule.
Reservations are available for purchase through Avelo Airlines’ website with one-way fares starting at $69, according to the news release.
Zooming out
Commercial air service at McKinney National Airport will begin Nov. 11 upon completion of a 46,000-square-foot commercial service terminal that’s been under construction since 2025. The Federal Aviation Administration presented the airport with a certificate in September that’s required to begin commercial service.
Avelo Airlines will base three Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft at the airport when it opens in November. The airline’s investment will create 150 jobs, including pilots, flight attendants, aircraft technicians and airport personnel.
