McKinney to spray for mosquitoes after pool tests positive for West Nile Virus

The city of McKinney will spray for mosquitoes Tuesday, Oct. 20 after a pool tested positive for West Nile Virus.

A city news release stated the spray will generally be a one-mile radius of the Glen Oaks subdivision along Wildwood Drive, near Stonebridge Ranch Country Club.

The spraying is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. Oct. 20, weather permitting, the release said.

McKinney is advising residents in the spray area to stay indoors and to bring pets inside during the spraying period. Residents who do not want the spraying done near their homes should contact McKinney Health Compliance at 972-547-7447 by 4 p.m. Oct. 19.

Signs will be posted at major intersections to notify residents of the city's spraying activity. More information will be posted online at www.mckinneytexas.org/mosquitocontrol.

McKinney mosquito control technicians began treating standing water locations with larvicide in March and began setting mosquito traps throughout the city in May.

The city sprayed earlier this year in a one-mile radius south of Virginia Parkway, east of Coit Road, north of Sexton Drive and west of Memory Lane.
