The Junior League of Collin County presented checks to 13 local nonprofit agencies like the Assistance Center of Collin County last month as part of its Community Grants Program.[/caption]
The Junior League of Collin County contributed $93,500 to 13 Collin County nonprofit agencies who were honored at a check presentation and reception in June.
Nonprofit organizations are selected each year to receive funding through the JLCC's Community Grants program. The grant selection process is an opportunity to demonstrate the power of collaboration among nonprofit service providers, JLCC President Jennifer Tinsman said. The program also allows the league to combine its financial resources, volunteer hours and leadership to support the most critical needs in Collin County, she said. In addition, the JLCC provides ongoing support to these organizations in the form of advisory roles, nonprofit management education and volunteer support in order to help raise awareness.
This year's Community Grant Award recipients are:
- Collin County Committee on Aging, Inc. (Meals on Wheels)
Funding will provide fruit bags to serve as a supplemental nutrition source for nutritionally at-risk clients.
Funding will help the agency provide transitional housing for families while they work toward sustainability. Specifically, the grant will go toward the purchasing of air mattresses for the homeless.
Funds will be used to establish a laboratory service line for patients. Money from this grant will be used to purchase equipment and testing supplies associated with an onsite clinic laboratory.
