Methodist McKinney’s new tech helps streamline and customize knee replacements

Methodist McKinney Hospital invested late last year in a ROSA Knee System, a new robotic technology for total knee replacements.

ROSA stands for Robotic Surgical Assistant, and it is designed to help surgeons place knee implants more accurately and effectively through the use of X-rays and virtual technology. With ROSA, a surgeon can see a 3D image of each patient’s knee and plan for the best course of action.

Methodist McKinney, which specializes in orthopedic and spine surgeries, is the only hospital in McKinney with this system, said Nicole Adame, physician and community relations manager at Methodist McKinney.

ROSA is expected to improve patient satisfaction with knee replacements, according to officials.

As of mid-January, Methodist McKinney had completed at least 25 knee replacements with ROSA, Adame said. She added that ROSA-assisted surgeries will not cost any more than traditional surgeries.
