Over 500-home neighborhood proposed for 136-acre site in north McKinney

"Five hundred to 600 [homes] is kind of in the neighborhood of where it is, but they're still working on the land plan to nail down the final number," Wild said at the meeting.

City staff said the neighborhood would include a mix of traditional, cottage and villa home units. The development will also include extending Laud Howell Parkway out to Lake Forest Drive to provide access to the neighborhood, Wild said

Council members approved a development agreement and several zoning requests related to the creation of the Honey Creek municipal management district in September 2024. Honey Creek could include up to 10,500 homes in both single-family and multifamily configurations as well as 80 acres of commercial land, according to city documents.

Looking ahead

McKinney City Council will make the final decision on the rezoning request at a Sept. 2 council meeting.
