The city of McKinney announced Nov. 13 that it has again landed a major event at its new $70 million stadium, according to a press release.
Marching Music Made in McKinney will take place July 21 at the McKinney ISD Stadium and Community Event Center, located at 4201 Hardin Blvd., McKinney.
This music competition will be one of several stops for the Drum Corps International Tour, which takes place every June and features the most elite and exclusive marching ensembles among musicians and performers ages 17-21, according to DCI’s website.
“We are thrilled that a world-class organization like DCI has chosen McKinney ISD Stadium as one of the performances and competition sites for its upcoming 2020 season,” MISD Superintendent Rick McDaniel said in a Nov. 13 city news release. “MISD has a long, proud history of outstanding band and fine arts programs, with students who have gone on to compete in DCI, so I can’t think of a more fitting event for us to host. DCI sits at the pinnacle of marching band and drum corps competition, so we know that attendees will be treated to top-notch performances in a world-class facility, and we couldn’t be happier to be part of it.”
