With the opening of Frazier Elementary School next year, McKinney ISD proposed attendance zone changes for the 2023-24 school year during the board of trustees meeting Dec. 13.
Ruth and Harold Frazier Elementary is a brand-new facility that will be located at the intersection of Lady Bird Drive and Blackwater Bay Cove in north McKinney. The project is being funded by the 2021 school bond program.
Based on future residential development plans, among other factors, it was proposed that Frazier’s zone would be the portion of the Press Elementary zone north of Bloomdale Road and west of US 75. Press Elementary has one of the largest elementary attendance zones in the district. All other portions of the Press Elementary attendance zone will remain unchanged, and no other elementary zones are affected. No changes will be made to any McKinney ISD middle school and high school attendance zones.
“This is probably one of the most direct attendance zone creations through the history of McKinney ISD,” said Jason Bird, MISD’s deputy superintendent of business, operations, accountability and technology.
