1. Royal Roastery Express now serves coffee, desserts in Richardson
Royal Roastery Express is now open in Richardson after hosting a grand opening June 26.
Royal Roastery Express serves coffee, freshly squeezed juice, fruit bowls, pastries and a range of desserts, including Turkish delights and baklava.
Cafe Brazil is now open in McKinney, CEO and owner Lindsay Pultz confirmed.
Cafe Brazil is a 24-hour coffeehouse and eatery. The McKinney location will have limited hours on Sunday through Tuesday for the first few weeks of operations, but operations on Wednesday through Saturday will follow the 24-hour schedule.
A Cafe Brazil location operated in McKinney from 2005 to 2012, when the eatery closed due to nearby highway construction and decreased traffic, Pultz said. The eatery fills a space formerly occupied by Jungle Burger.
3. Food hall concept Wonder to offer cuisine from more than 20 restaurants in Allen
As part of a larger expansion to Texas, Wonder is slated to develop a location in Allen.
The company is app-based and allows diners to mix and match dishes from more than 20 restaurants in a single order. Menu items are made to order and include a range of cuisines. The kitchen also offers menu items in collaboration with chefs such as Bobby Flay and restaurants such as Tejas Barbecue, alongside Wonder concepts such as Pop Salad.
The construction for First Watch is scheduled to begin July 1, according to the filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Construction on the $900,000 renovations to finish out the project should wrap up by the beginning of November, the filing states.
First Watch serves breakfast items, such as breakfast sandwiches, breakfast hashes, pancakes, waffles, granola bowls and breakfast tacos.
Zalat Pizza is expected to open its newest location in McKinney this summer, a news release states.
The McKinney location will be the company’s 31st location in Texas, joining locations in North Texas, Austin and Houston.
“McKinney is one of the most exciting communities in North Texas, with the growth, energy and food culture that make it a natural fit for Zalat,” Zalat Pizza founder and CEO Khanh Nguyen said in the release.
6. The Gin serves up homestyle food, music in downtown Prosper
Michael Pettis and his mother, Marcia Pettis, started The Gin in downtown Prosper as “kind of a pet project,” Pettis said.
Pettis, who is a homebuilder in North Texas, bought the building that houses The Gin in 2015 just as the town’s population was starting to take off. As Prosper has grown, The Gin has grown alongside it, providing food, drinks and a place for the community to come together.
