Texas-based Moviehouse & Eatery was recently acquired by the Mexican theater company Cinépolis, according to a July 26 statement. Moviehouse & Eatery will operate independently following the acquisition and still plans to open its newest theater in The Woodlands area in November. "Cinépolis shares the same high standards that we maintain at Moviehouse & Eatery, and it is the perfect company to take Moviehouse to the next level. We are excited that Cinépolis will expand the Moviehouse experience to people all across the country," Moviehouse & Eatery co-founder Rodney Speaks said in the July release. Moviehouse & Eatery currently operates five locations in the Dallas and Austin areas. Its first Greater Houston-area theater broke ground in January at the Creekside Park West plaza located at 26543 Kuykendahl Road, Tomball ahead of its opening this fall. The new cinema will feature 11 screens and will offer food and drink service to customers' seats. www.themoviehouse.com
