A new 3,415-square-foot restaurant called Industry may be coming alongside Hops & Grain.

From restaurant consultant Harlan Scott and Cafe Josie owner Cody Taylor, Industry will be located at 110 E. MLK Drive in the former county justice center next to Hops & Grain.

The two applied for and received approval for their alcohol permit from the San Marcos Planning and Zoning Commission Tuesday.

Calling it a "counter service hybrid concept" open for lunch, dinner and late night, the restaurant's main feature will be a Texas Live Oak smoker. Menu options include entrees, salads, brisket, sandwiches, sides, tacos and burgers. The restaurant will also serve draft cocktails, beer and wine.

The restaurant will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m.-2 a.m., have a wraparound patio and offer live music Thursdays through Saturdays. It will also have mobile ordering systems so patrons do not have to leave their seats to order.

"Industry will be a place to meet or hang out after work or after class for a quick and quality lunch or even catering for the office," the restaurant's business plan states.

Industry will compliment the feel of Hops & Grain, the Austin-based brewery that will take up about 21,000 square feet of the property, according to the business plan.

Scott said Industry will likely open in Winter 2018.
