Another Rainey Street bar is closing its doors.

Bar 96, a sports-friendly bar owned by Austin restaurateur Bridget Dunlap, will close July 9. Dunlap also owns Lustre Pearl, Container Bar and Clive Bar on Rainey Street, as well as Collide ATX on East Sixth Street.

Bar 96 co-owner and Dunlap's husband Chris Parker said in an email they were unable to renew the bar's lease at a "fair price."

He said the backyard portion of the property is under a different lease with a different landlord and will eventually be added to Lustre Pearl's property next door. Much like Bar 96, the expanded Lustre Pearl backyard will include televisions and lawn games, Parker said.

A closing party has been scheduled for 3-7 p.m. Sunday with drink specials, a dunk tank and DJ.

This is the second Rainey Street bar to close in the past month. No Va Kitchen & Bar closed June 3 after four years in business.
