Fifteen local nonprofit groups will receive financial grants from the city of Highland Village this year.
Highland Village City Council on Nov. 10 approved more than $46,000 in grant funding for nonprofits working in the community.
The Lewisville ISD Education Foundation, Denton County Friends of the Family and Special Abilities of North Texas were among the recipients of the largest grants in this year’s pool, each receiving at least $5,000.
In their applications this year, nonprofits requested 15% more than the city had budgeted for nonprofit grants, which required the city to whittle down the size of some of the requests.
