Oct 15: jam out to tunes in a song circle

The acoustic jam session for all instruments and skill level lasts from 6-9 p.m. at the Lewisville Grand Theater. Free. Oct 15-17: expand your personal library

Book Sale Flower Mound promotes the sale of gently used books, CDs and DVDs to help support the Flower Mound Public Library. Early bird tickets are $5 for admission from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 15. Oct. 16: pay tribute to fallen officers

The TXFallenPD Tribute Event has a full day of activities planned at The Shops at Highland Village. A 5K run/walk starts at 8 a.m. Vendor booths and live music start at 11 a.m. There will also be a kids zone, a citizen honor bike ride, a first responder honor bike ride, a kid ride with an officer and a police obstacle course. Headline band Incognito performs at 4 p.m. The event will raise money for the Texas Police Chiefs Association Fallen Officer Fund in honor of Highland Village Police Department Sgt. Oct 16: sample 200 different kinds of beer

Head out with lawn chairs to the Best Little Brewfest in Texas and enjoy live music on two stages while sipping on beers from more than 70 different breweries. Gates open for VIP ticket holders at 1:30 p.m. General admission is at 3 p.m. Food trucks and other vendors will also be available. $10-$70. Oct 16: cheer for local police and firefighters

Watch police officers and firefighters across North Texas participate in the annual Battle of the Badges Softball Tournament. Mid-day ceremonies begin at 11:30 a.m at the Lewisville Railroad Park.
