Lewisville ISD is adding a number of online courses to its middle school and high school virtual learning offerings, the district shared in an update July 29.
"While we are not able to replicate every course that is offered on our campuses in the virtual program, we are adding courses where there was a high volume of students who had signed up for the course across the district," the district said in the update.
The courses being added are not available on Edgenuity, the platform being used for LISD's virtual learners. The district will create its own curriculum for the additional courses, the update said.
Among the added courses are several that were requested by a group of students via an online petition and letter to district administration, including Computer Science 1, 2 and Advanced Placement; AP Calculus BC; and AP Chemistry.
