Liberty Hill officials discuss design element for center of downtown roundabout

Liberty Hill leaders began brainstorming visual elements to place at the center of the downtown roundabout in October.

The details

City Manager Paul Brandenburg said the roundabout serves as a gateway to Liberty Hill’s downtown, and it needs a visual statement piece for its center.

A few ideas that have been discussed include:

• Placing the “Guardian” statue from the International Sculpture Park at the center of the roundabout (the city could either make a cast of the original statue or contract an artist to create a replica)
• Rock and stone landscaping that could include a water feature as well as trees and scrubs
• A large tree
• Drought-resistant plants in rocks
• A gateway arch that reads “Downtown Liberty Hill” with landscaping underneath

Officials said there is both electricity and water service that leads to the middle of the roundabout, which opens up even more options. The aforementioned ideas all include night lighting.
