As Leander and Liberty Hill continue to see rapid population growth, here are three updates on transportation projects affecting connectivity in the area.

Ongoing

RM 2243, Hero Way controlled-access highway

Project: A substantial reconstruction and widening of RM 2243 and Hero Way is underway, which will see the two-lane roadway divided into a controlled-access highway from 183A Toll to Southwest Bypass, including frontage roads in both directions.

Update: After construction began in late January, crews are now installing drainage pipes under CR 269. Phase 2A is expected to begin in fall 2028, according to county documents.

• Timeline: January 2026-spring 2030

• Cost: $132 million

• Funding source: Williamson County 2019 road bond

Upcoming

Seward Junction North Loop reconstruction

Project: Work includes the reconstruction of Seward Junction North Loop along two segments connecting US 183 to Hwy. 29, and CR 260 to CR 213.

Update: Schematic designs are complete. Construction on the eastern portion of this project is expected to begin this fall.

• Timeline: East: fall 2026-early 2028; West: TBD

• Cost: East: $47.3 million; West: $16.2 million

• Funding source: Williamson County 2023 road bond; federal funding through the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization

CR 201 reconstruction

Project: Road work includes reconstructing CR 201 from CR 200 to Umbrella Sky, adding shoulders and turn lanes.

Update: Preliminary design is complete. Final plans still need to be submitted for the project.

• Cost: $16 million

• Funding source: Williamson County road and bridge program
