183A Toll extension through Leander, Liberty Hill more than 75% complete

Oscar Solis, assistant director of engineering with the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority, said the project has reached 75% of completion. He said the work taking place throughout 2024 includes:

• Continued digging underground to build the extended 183A underneath Hwy. 29
• Completing new Hwy. 29 bridge over the 183A extension
• Installing overhead signs and toll sites
• Working on shared-use path extension
• Traffic light at US 183 and CR 213
• Adding pedestrian signals
• Building pedestrian bridge and overlook over the South Fork San Gabriel River

Keep in mind

Once completed, the extended toll road is expected to save commuters time by eliminating four signalized intersections.

Solis said the new extension will not only provide a nonstop option for toll users but also improve the functionality of the existing frontage lanes for drivers who decide not to use the toll road.

The new extension is expected to open in early 2025.

“Things are going well. [CTRMA] asks the public for continued patience as we work toward the finish line in the next year,” Solis said. “We’re almost there.”
