Board members serve three-year terms. Three candidates have filed to appear on the ballot for Place 4 on the Liberty Hill ISD board of trustees: Antonio Canas, Jamie Etzkorn and Sharon Yager.
Early voting will be available April 20-April 28.

What will your top priorities be if you are elected?
My priority is to anticipate staff and teachers' needs early to proactively meet the school district's requirements. Plan for the upcoming school year to support teachers, students, and the community. Ensure educators focus on preparing students academically and fostering future leaders.
What uniquely qualifies you for this position?
I believe my education, experience, and community involvement make me a strong candidate. My skills will positively impact the district's planning and progress. Public schools are vital for students, communities, and the nation, offering opportunities to pursue dreams and become active citizens.
What do you see as the greatest challenge for the school district, and how will you improve it?

What will be your top priorities if you are elected?
Prioritize academic excellence, responsible growth planning, fiscal responsibility, teacher recruitment and retention, student safety and transparent communication. The focus must remain on improving student outcomes while managing rapid growth, supporting staff, protecting taxpayers, and building strong partnerships with families and the community.
What uniquely qualifies you for this position?
With 32 years in public education, I bring firsthand district experience. I’ve served as classified union president, sat on a $400+ million budget committee, insurance committee, and leadership hiring panels. I advocate for employees, prioritize student safety and challenge, and believe parents are partners not spectators.
What do you see as the greatest challenge for the school district, and how will you improve it?
The greatest challenge is managing rapid growth amid ongoing budget shortfalls. Enrollment is rising faster than funding, straining staffing and programs. Improvement required strategic growth planning, strong financial stewardship, competitive staff support, state funding advocacy, and transparent community engagement to maintain academic quality and student services.
What is something you want residents to know about you?
With 32 years of school district experience, I understand how decisions impact classrooms, budgets, and families. I’ve provided financial oversight, supported staff and advocated for students. I believe in responsible growth, protecting taxpayers, and ensuring parents are true partners in their children’s education, not spectators.
