Hope House is a nonprofit organization based in Liberty Hill providing care and housing to children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
The features
Each child at Hope House has their own private bedroom. The housing model helps support the child’s overall well-being, according to its website. The organization focuses on not just meeting federal regulations, but giving children personalized care.
The grand opening
On Oct. 9, Hope House debuted the Rathgeber Community, which consists of two new homes constructed to provide housing to 16 additional children, according to a news release. The housing addition was built with help from Sara and Dick Rathgerber, HomeAid Austin, and Pacesetter Homes.
The new duplexes were built to provide better living conditions for residents, according to previous Community Impact reporting.
Existing Hope House residences faced damages from the July flooding, which required repairs and temporary evacuations, according to a news release.
“This day reminds us that hope always rebuilds,” Executive Director of Hope House Dave Gould said. “Because of our community, every child who was displaced from their home in the flood now has a safe, forever place to belong.”
Lend a hand
Community members looking to get involved are encouraged to donate online. Each donation supplies funding for therapy, medical care, education and enrichment, according to the Hope House website.
