Here are three transportation updates to know for the Lake Travis-Westlake area this June.

Hwy. 71 and Uplands Ridge Drive signal

Project: The new signalized light provides easier access to and from the H-E-B shopping center for those traveling east or west on Hwy. 71 through a protected turn in and out of The Uplands neighborhood.

Update: The new traffic light was activated in May, according to the city of Bee Cave.

Highlands Boulevard intersection improvements

Project: The project will install raised crosswalks on Highlands Boulevard at the intersection of Tavish Trail and the Bee Creek Road roundabout. Additionally, pedestrian hybrid beacons will be updated from post-mounted installations for mast-arm installations along the roadway.

Update: Lakeway City Council rejected all bids submitted for the project at the May 18 meeting due to bid submission irregularities and moved to re-bid the project through an expedited process to reduce delays.

Loop 360 Courtyard Drive/RM 2222 project

Project: This section of Loop 360’s refresh will remove the traffic signal from the Loop 360 mainlanes at Courtyard Drive and construct an overpass. It will also reconfigure RM 2222 at Loop 360 to a diverging diamond interchange and add shared-use paths.

Update: A left-lane closure at the northbound Loop 360 exit ramp to RM 2222 is ongoing as of May, per TxDOT.
