1. New RR 620 lane

A new auxiliary southbound lane on RR 620—from just north of Lohmans Crossing to Spillman Loop in Lakeway—will be added this summer. The project also includes adding pavement at several RR 620 intersections including Falcon Head Boulevard and Ladera Boulevard to allow a three-lane approach on the west side of the intersections. This configuration will match the east side of these intersections. Timeline: May-August Cost: $1.42 million Funding sources: Texas Department of Transportation

2. Bicycle/pedestrian bridge on MoPac over Barton Creek Greenbelt

Construction is still in progress on a bicycle and pedestrian bridge slated to be completed this summer. Partnering with the city of Austin, TxDOT is constructing the bridge, which has a shared-use path along northbound MoPac lanes over the Barton Creek Greenbelt from one frontage road turnaround to the other near MoPac’s intersections with Southwest Parkway and Loop 360. Remaining work includes bridge abutment, railing and lighting work for the bridge, and sidewalk tie-ins. Timeline: February 2014-summer 2016 Cost: $7.7 million Funding sources: TxDOT, city of Austin

3. Loop 360 entrance/exit lanes

The TxDOT is adding extended entrance and exit lanes on Loop 360 to improve intersections with Walsh Tarlton Lane, the Barton Creek Square Mall entrance, MoPac and the intersection just south of MoPac in Austin. A left-turn lane will also be added on the northbound frontage road of MoPac at Loop 360. Timeline: February 2016-spring 2017 Cost: $6.44 million Funding sources: TxDOT

4. 5. RR 620 intersections

The TxDOT will add a traffic signal on RR 620 at Dave Drive and a traffic signal at Oak Grove Boulevard in northern Lakeway before the 2016-17 school year begins in the fall, said Kelli Reyna, TxDOT Austin District public information officer. She said the agency routinely studies major intersections to see if signals would be beneficial and determined that the intersections warrant a traffic signal. Timeline: unknown-fall 2016 Cost: $150,000 for each traffic signal totaling $300,000 Funding sources: TxDOT

6. Hwy. 71 Improvement Project

Construction on Phase 4 began in mid-October for the area from Silvermine Drive to just south of Scenic Brook Drive. That work, which is still underway, involves adding shoulders and a continuous center turn lane and is anticipated to be completed by summer 2016. When the overall project is complete, parts of the project area will consist of five lanes, including a dedicated center left-turn lane, shoulders, a new pavement surface and striping. Timeline: summer 2014-summer 2016 Cost: $15.9 million Funding sources: TxDOT

7. MoPac toll lanes

Upon completion the highway will have one new lane in each direction from Parmer Lane to Cesar Chavez Street that will be tolled. Current construction includes bridge widening, building sound walls, installing conduit and cables to support the toll-collection and intelligent transportation systems, and completing the relocation of temporary ramps. The timeline was delayed from a fall 2015 completion to late 2016. Timeline: late 2013-late 2016 Cost: $204 million Funding sources: federal and  state funds

8. Flint Rock Road

Approximately 2 miles of the two-lane Flint Rock Road—between RR 620 at Lakeway Regional Medical Center and Serene Hills Drive—will be widened with a buffer and asphalt shoulder added. The project, initially expected to take 15 months to complete, has been delayed by recent rains and unexpected groundwater releases. It has also been hampered by utility relocation issues near Tonkawa Trail East. Road paving on Flint Rock forced the May 9 temporary closure of Wild Cherry Road until late 2016. Timeline: October 2015-early 2017 Cost: $9.2 million total with 47 percent funded by the city of Lakeway and 53 percent funded by Travis County Funding sources: city of Lakeway, Travis County
