Maudie's Hill Country a step closer to getting covered patios

On March 13, Bee Cave City Council approved site plan changes necessary for Maudie's Hill Country to build awnings over two of its patios.

While the awnings would not keep the Tex-Mex restaurant's patios dry from rain, they would help block the sun, said Ryan Leugers, Maudie's Hill Country general manager.

"Obviously, after last summer and the amount of Texas heat, we were really trying to provide shade coverage more than anything," he said.

Bee Cave City Council had approved changes to Maudie's Hill Country elevation site plan in February pending the color of the awning. The awning color was announced at the March 13 meeting as graphite, which council unanimously approved.

Maudie's Hill Country now needs the city to approve a building permit for the construction of the awnings on the restaurant's southwest and southeast patios. Leugers said he hopes the permit will be approved and the awnings ready for late spring or early summer.

"They will definitely provide shade, which is going to be the big aspect for us until those big Mexican sycamores come in nice and full," he said.
