The Lower Colorado River Authority submitted its new proposed Water Management Plan for lakes Buchanan and Travis to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for review and approval March 12.
It was adopted by LCRA's board of directors Feb. 22.
The new plan, with the purpose of governing how LCRA operates Lake Travis and Lake Buchanan concerning water allocation, includes recommendations made by a 16-member advisory committee composed of stakeholders throughout the Lower Colorado Basin.
The committee worked for about 18 months providing LCRA input on critical water management issues. The plan also incorporates suggestions from public comments—more than 450 written public comments submitted and about 42 more made at LCRA meetings on Feb. 21–22.
