Photo by City of LakewayOn Feb. 18 Lakeway City Council approved a proposed timeline to annex approximately 315 acres near Hwy. 71 at Bee Creek Road.
The project was first presented to council members on Jan. 21 by Lakeway Deputy City Manager Chessie Zimmerman. Zimmerman cited concerns about ensuring the corridor be developed in a way that is compatible with adjacent residential uses as the reason for annexation.
"The staff perspective is that [annexation is] a process that should be completed by the council that begins it," she said.
Zimmerman said the proposed timeline is necessary to conclude the annexation process before any current council member terms expire.
