Cate Sweeney, public services manager at Bee Cave Public Library, received the "Libraries Change Communities" award at the 2018 Texas Library Association Annual Conference in Dallas on April 4. Sweeney was nominated for a charity knitting project in 2015 and 2016, where she connected the library's knitting club with a host of other community partners to send hundreds of hand-knitted hats to Syrian refugees relocating to Canada. The "Libraries Change Communities" award recognizes dedicated and innovative librarians who undertake community-based library initiatives that affect users' lives for the better.
