New sports facilities to offer more options for area residents

The Westlake Athletic and Community Center, 4300 Westbank Drive, West Lake Hills, had a soft opening Dec. 1, and Hill Country Indoor, 4317 Skaggs Drive, Bee Cave, is targeting a January 2017 opening.

The WACC offers family memberships while also focusing on camps, clinics and leagues, Director of Sales Jamie Scope said. Sports camps and clinics ranging from volleyball to flag football will be offered throughout the year, he said.

The facility offers approximately 70,000 square feet of indoor athletic space, including a 50-yard football field, basketball and volleyball courts, and a workout room.

An open balcony from which parents can watch their children practice overlooks the turf field, Scope said. 

WACC tenants include Texas Physical Therapy Specialists, fitness program Train 4 the Game and cheerleading and tumbling gym Tumble Tech.

HCI partner Josh McKay said the 130,000-square-foot facility will cater to families, adult leagues and youth sports. It will offer hitting and pitching practice areas, basketball and volleyball courts, and family entertainment features that may include a rock-climbing wall, he said.

Members will have access to a dedicated spin room, yoga and barre classes, and other open spaces as well as an elevated running track around the center’s basketball courts, McKay said.

“The main thing that will set us apart [from other gyms] is the mix of services we offer,” he said. “We are also very excited about other sport facilities that are developing [in the area] because it means we have the opportunity to come together and do some really awesome stuff.”
