Mayor Kara King has won her first contested mayoral election and will keep her seat as Bee Cave’s mayor for the next two years.
King faced challenger John Colman in the May 7 election and came away with 74.64% of the vote, or 1,083 votes. Colman, who is retired from the financial industry, garnered 25.36 percent, with 368 votes.
"It's hard for me to put my name on the ballot," King said after Saturday night's results were tallied. "In local elections, we all know each other, we are a community. The fact that so many of my neighbors, and my community, are putting their trust in me is not something I will take for granted. I truly believe in service and I look forward to leading Bee Cave, along with an amazing city council, into the future."
