Lakeway restaurant R19 Taqueria to close in December

Cali-Mex restaurant R19 Taqueria will be closing its doors at 2422 S. RM 620, Ste. A-120, Lakeway, at the end of December.

The plan is to shut the restaurant down Dec. 23 or 24, R19 Taqueria owner Christopher Haydostian said.

Haydostian opened the eatery in October 2021 after closing his full-service restaurant Reunion 19 in downtown Austin.

“I really like Lakeway, and I like this area,” Haydostian told Community Impact. “It’s going to be hard to shut down because I love what we’ve done with our space.”

Rising food costs along with labor issues have made it a difficult year to stay open, he said.

“We just aren't seeing the traffic we hoped to see when we opened,” he said.

R19 will continue to offer its full menu, including breakfast tacos, Cali-Mex burritos and tacos, carne asada fries, mulitas and queso, until its closing date.
