The city of Lakeway announced Aug. 4 the community will host National Night Out on Oct. 5 at which residents can learn about their law enforcement personnel.
National Night Out is an annual campaign to promote police-community partnerships that enhance the relationship between local law enforcement agencies and residents, according to the organization. Nationwide and in Texas, communities host block parties, festivals and safety demonstrations from emergency personnel.
In light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, many municipalities called off or altered festivities in 2020. Last year, Lakeway opted for a virtual event conducted on the Lakeway Police Department’s Facebook Page, Communications Director Jarrod Wise told Community Impact Newspaper.
Barring any changes associated with the pandemic, Lakeway’s National Night Out will occur in-person throughout the community, Wise said.
