Humble ISD unveils new 'City of Elements' playground at Whispering Pines Elementary

Humble ISD officials celebrated the opening of a new “City of Elements”-themed playground at Whispering Pines Elementary on March 4.

The details

According to a Feb. 25 news release, the playground is designed for children ages 5-12 and includes the following features:

• A 29-foot-tall “Tree of Life” rope climbing play tower
• A nine-seat swing set
• Hangout hammocks
• Tactical play panels

The playground was designed and installed by KOMPAN, per the release.

Some context

The new playground is part of the district’s ongoing campus playground revitalization initiative, which was included in the district's $775 million bond package approved by voters in 2022. Officials noted HISD playgrounds are open to the public when school is not in session.
