Humble ISD board of trustees unanimously approved a 2021-22 school calendar and the name of the incoming Elementary School No. 30 at the Jan. 12 school board meeting.
The district asked for community feedback on its proposed 2021-22 academic calendar throughout the month of December until Jan. 4. Much like the last two years, the calendar features two weeklong breaks in October and February. The first day of school will be Aug. 10, while the last day of school will be May 27.
Although trustees did not discuss the agenda item, board meeting documents stated that 70% of feedback from 552 parents and employees was positive toward the proposed calendar.
"Respondents who commented in favor of the calendar mentioned that they appreciated the consistency of the district using similar calendars year after year, have enjoyed having family time within the school year, and believe that the calendar benefited their children," the board document stated. "Respondents who commented against the calendar mentioned that their children found it hard to get into a routine, and they believe there are too many breaks."
