Harris County voters are being asked to approve a $2.5 billion bond referendum to help fund flood mitigation projects across the county. The bond election is set to take place Aug. 25—exactly one year after Hurricane Harvey hit the area in 2017, flooding thousands of structures countywide. Early voting begins Aug. 8. To cast a ballot, voters must be registered at least 30 days prior to the date of the election—or by July 26. Citizens can confirm their voter registration status by searching at the Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector and Voter Registrar’s website or at the Texas Secretary of State’s website. A final list of projects to receive funding from the bond is expected to be released to the public Wednesday, Aug. 1. Visit www.harrisvotes.com for voting locations and other important information.
