It was Judge Mark Keough’s first Montgomery County Commissioners Court meeting as the new county judge Jan. 8, and his first move was to decrease his own salary by $15,000 along with decreasing his chief of staff's salary. Keough's new salary is $154,774, and his chief of staff's is $108,959. It was approved unanimously, and the excess funds were shuffled to the Precinct 4 asphalt account. It was also Precinct 4 Commissioner James Metts' first court meeting on the job. "I would like to personally congratulate Commissioner Metts … and also I’m genuinely excited about working with all four of these men," Keough said. In other news Jan. 8, commissioners unanimously: • appointed new officers and directors of the Montgomery County Toll Road Authority, with Commissioner Charlie Riley acting as chairman; Commissioner Mike Meador as vice chairman; Keough as secretary; and Metts as treasurer. • accepted a memorandum of understanding between the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement joint operations program and the Montgomery County Constable Precinct 4 office for overtime funding of $2,000 for fiscal year 2018-19.
