The setup
Registration for the city’s fifth annual Branch Out Dallas program, which is led by the Dallas Forestry team, opened Sept. 5. Homeowners have until Sept. 30 to register online for a free tree, which will be distributed on Dallas Arbor Day on Nov. 4.
This year, the forestry team expects to distribute 2,500 trees, according to a city news release. Registered residents can choose from six tree species: bur oak, sycamore, Mexican plum, American elm, shumard oak or lacebark elm.
