Traffic delays: Hwy. 377 construction continues in Roanoke

Due to continued work on Hwy. 377, the Texas Department of Transportation has announced the latest temporary road closures in the city of Roanoke.

TxDOT will temporarily close one lane of access on Business 114, or Byron Nelson Boulevard, from North Oak Street to Cannon Parkway. The closure will last Aug. 31 from 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m.

In addition, beginning Sept. 1 at midnight, Rusk Street, Travis Street and Denton Drive will each close in the downtown area from Hwy. 377 to Oak Street.

TxDOT is estimating a noon return to normal access for the affected downtown streets. Residents should expect delays if traveling in the area of Hwy. 377 construction, according to a city news release.

The estimated $33.7 million Hwy. 377 project is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2023. The project will include reconstruction and widening of Hwy. 377 from a two-lane rural road to a four-lane, divided roadway with raised medians and sidewalks.

According to TxDOT, the project will implement additional left-turn lanes and traffic signals at a number of intersections within the project limits. A new railroad bridge and retaining walls will also be constructed at the Hwy. 377 and Byron Nelson Boulevard intersection.
