Roanoke city officials announced May 15 that the city will conduct mosquito spraying citywide.
Barring weather delays, spraying will take place the second Thursday of every month from May through October. Crews will begin spraying after dark and will target residential and industrial areas, according to a city news release.
The mosquito spray is not harmful to people, animals or plants, the release said. Sprays are tentatively scheduled to take place May 14, June 11, July 9, Aug. 13, Sept. 10 and Oct. 8.
According to Denton County Public Health, the best way to combat mosquitos is with the three Ds: Drain, Dress and Defend.
